I have definitely drank a lot of coke in my time and yes, it does go so well with Rum! However, I am not a big coke drinker and very rarely touch it these days. It’s such a large company that causes so much destruction and pollution that it is difficult for me to support them. I cam across this fantastic video the other day – I hope you get chance to see it before someone takes it down!
Some horrible news about coca cola!
While I’ve got you – When a state government in Australia considered creating a 10-cent refund on recycling plastic bottles, Coca-Cola poured money into a misleading campaign to oppose the plan. Then, when common sense won out and the plan passed, Coke immediately sued the government to stop the program. Check this petition to tell coca cola to stop paying money in an attempt to stop recycling in Australia!
Last night I watched a great documentary; “Surviving Progress“. It was inspired by a best-selling book by Ronald Wright and includes Martic Scorsese as one of the executive directors.
The message is amazing and very true to my own beliefs. It really tries to address the current issue with our global over consumption. Continue reading →
This film looks set to be a worthy watch. Unfortunately I am stuck with unprecedentedly slow internet speeds and as of yet have not got too far through the movie. You can check out the preview below.
Learn the truth behind the worldwide economic collapse, tracing its origins to a 1971 secret memo entitled Attack on American Free Enterprise System. Written over 40 years ago by the future Supreme Court Justice Lewis Powell, at the behest of the US Chamber of Commerce, the 6-page memo, a free-market utopian treatise, called for a money fueled big business makeover of government through corporate control of the media, academia, the pulpit, arts and sciences and destruction of organized labor and consumer protection groups.
Anybody wanting to organize a community screening – can check out the details here.
A veteran B.C. political cartoonist says his newspaper has backed down in a fight with one of Canada’s largest energy companies over a spoof of an advertisement.
Dan Murphy, of the Vancouver Province, created an animated parody targeting Enbridge Inc. and the potential environmental impact of its proposed multi-billion-dollar Northern Gateway pipeline proposal that would cross B.C. and Alberta.
Murphy says his publisher, Postmedia News, pulled the online animation off its website after Enbridge threatened to cut advertising with the newspaper chain, a claim Enbridge denies
This snippet was taken from this article on CBC News. After reading it, I contacted the cartoonist Dan Murphy via twitter who forwarded me the full video below:-
There is some uncertainty as to what the true reasons were for pulling this cartoon from the website, but one side of the story is copyright and the other side is that Enbridge threatened to remove $1million worth of advertising from post media news corp. Which ever reason it is, we all know Enbridge stinks and they’re wasting their advertising dollars anyway!
This video is North Korean Propaganda, that actually seems to really hit some valid points! It truly makes you see how the Western cultures of consumerism have been used to exploit and enslave entire populations. I laughed out loud when it shows you the reactions of people “rejoicing” because they just won “consumer goods” or bought a phone!
A worthy watch, there are more parts to come, I suggest you subscribe to the YouTube channel to see what follows.
Are we ALL victims of psychological warfare, by our own leaders. I certainly think so. Even more so with recent actions by the Harper government in Canada. They are losing grip on society as methods are being uncovered and they are finding it ever harder to conceal their draconian, underhand procedures to dumb down the population. It’s time to stand up and ask questions that matter. It’s time for the people to pave the way, not for the seedy, greedy “elite” to destroy this planet for their own gain. Get involved in the dialogue, do something to make yourself heard and make a difference in the direction of Humanity. If you are not here to contribute, then what are you here for?
I would love to hear your views below in the comments section – thanks for contributing!
Awaking before sunrise, to join a field of outdoor dancers moving to the sound of Kamananda, was to be how my Sunday began.
Watching the sunrise whilst dancing to Random Rab, was how it slowly developed.
At 9am, the filmmakers workshop began, one of the few workshops I had originally intended to attend.
As I learned that it was a group involvement and was to begin with an introduction of oneself, I instantly became nervous, but realized that as I mentioned before, to put yourself in a position that makes you uncomfortable whilst it is related to something you love, will yield instantaneous results.
So now I was excited.
I have often had ideas of filming someone or asking someone a question on film and making mini documentaries, but fear always strikes me down. Too concerned on how it may turn out. Well this was to be the answer. The facilitators from selva rica were firm believers in just going for it. So we did.
The group split out into two, one half was to film a narrative and the other half, the one I chose to be in, was to ask questions documentary style.
We went out there and I got involved asking people questions and realized how simple and easy it was. People want to talk to you!
This lesson has taught me to just go and do it. Don’t be too concerned about the results, just do it. It builds confidence and skills.
One half of the video can be found below. The documentary part will be following sometime soon.
Thirst - the narrative video – filmed in 30 minutes, with no preparation – Enjoy!
Near the very start of my Positive Change Project, in fact on Day 5 (posts on this blog start on day 7 as I initially started on twitter), I decided to pick up litter on the way home from work. I have in the past picked up random items from off the floor and placed them in the nearest bin, but never have I actually deliberately gone out with a bag to pick up a whole bunch of rubbish.
Anyway – this time I did. I recorded my little adventure in the hopes that it may inspire more people to do the same. I would almost like for it to start a craze. It would be so cool to see lots of videos crop up on the internet of people picking up garbage in their area. Even just seeing someone pick up garbage in the street encourages another, so every small action counts.
The other week I saw a member of the public pick up a couple of discarded coffee cups with their plastic lids from the gutter and place them in a nearby bin. It was so nice to see others doing this and just reinforces the fact that there are so many people out there that care.
The Video
I recorded the video over a month ago now and have been editing it here and there, but it has been on hold since I was planning on making some music to go with it and that process can be quite lengthy. As it turns out, something unfolded which has led me to attach some music to it that is far superior to any previous plans.
The Music
Mojave Yoga - Courtesy of Marnie Recker
Last week the local yoga studio hosted an event that involved an hour session of yoga followed by a small private unplugged mini concert by the local band Mojave. It was an ‘attend by donation’ night, the proceeds of which were to go to Still Pointe animal shelter, chosen by the Mojave Band. We all gathered around on the floor for a very intimate and amazing concert during which I learnt how amazing Paul and Lisa were. One of their songs sounded perfect for this video. Yesterday I asked if it was ok to use the music, to which I received a resounding YES. So I am happy to not only present you with my message of reducing waste, but to expose you to a fantastic band, the song to which relates very nicely to my message also.
I do not doubt that you will enjoy their music as much as I and therefore supply you with links as to where you can purchase it.
It is very easy to live inside the four walls of a ‘safe society’; to live according to the unperceived constraints of a western ‘civilization’. Going through the motions, study, work, save, build a family, have fun. As Steve Jobs once said, “…everything around you that you call life, was made up by people that are no smarter than you……..and you can change it, you can influence it…….once you learn that you will never be the same again”.
You are boundless, limitless, lets begin to recognize this.
