Flying without Fuel | Reality Sandwich

Some fantastic news for all those renewable energy lovers! I’m so excited for this to be adopted, I assure some oil companies might be quaking in their boots, but maybe they could start to turn their attention some more ethical forms of production.

An experimental solar-powered airplane completed its first successful journey on June 5th: a 20-hour transcontinental flight from Madrid to Rabat, Morocco’s capital city.

Morocco was the chosen destination of this soon-to-be-famous flight because of the country’s demonstrated interest in solar energy. Morocco recently launched a next-level solar energy program which will radically decrease their reliance on fossil fuels. The country aims to produce 2,000 megawatts of solar energy by 2020.

Day 132 (positive project) Awareness

20120225-085014.jpg

Yesterday a friend of mine posted the above Facebook update!

The first thing that came to mind was something similar to, “How can my friend not care about this stuff?” This quickly shifted to, “…his post highlights a lot of positivity in many ways”.

Not only did the post generate a lot of positive comments, be them jokes, or glimmers of humor set in sarcasm, but it also highlighted the need for positivity. I am very happy that someone else is demanding a more positive thread to life.

Not only this, but the content he speaks of, Monsanto, Pipelines and the Harper Government in Canada, are all very important issues that can be looked at with either negativity or as one chooses, with positivity. The fact that the writer of this post is aware of all these issues is a positive in itself, and it highlights the need for the people talking about them to focus on the positive aspect of each subject matter, rather than from a doom and gloom type stance. The very fact that these subject matters are at the forefront, is positive, we just need to see the exposure of these subjects as an opportunity for positive change and a blessing that people want to make a stand for humanity.

This post cries out that the world is changing in a positive way – keep up the good work all and stay positive!

Monsanto begins to Fall – Great News

This is a great win for humanity. Any blow Monsanto gets is going to help humanity return to nature.

Read the full article of how a farmer successfully won a case against Monsanto.

I also found the words below floating around on Facebook, so I made a picture of it. Feel free to grab it and spread it.

Oil Executives Son Shares his Thoughts

The full article is here, but this is the crooks of it for those with limited time…..

In closing, it’s time now for a full scale, mass mobilized transition process off the fossil fuel economy. We need to use all of our resources we have left wisely to create a whole new system of operation that is global in scale. This process needs to have the mobilization power comparable to the proportions of the Manhattan project, and then some. It’s time for us to journey into a new dream, a new way, with new design and new fundamental principles. It’s time for us to end a millennia of pain, suffering, shame and unconsciousness. It’s time to create resilient, sustainable and flourishing communities, that have the adaptive capacity to respond to any challenges they may face in their external environment – and be able to effectively respond specifically to the coming age of peak oil, climate change and rampant global economic instability.

It’s time for us to dismantle the institutions that are beginning to imprison us. It’s time for us to un-learn, to remove the power structures, and to decentralize the grid so that individual communities can produce their own food, energy and own internal means of production for hundreds to thousands of years to come.

And ultimately, it’s time for us to become the true masters we are meant to become – true, planetary mastery — in balance with the emotional, cultural, spiritual and psychological wellbeing of every inhabitant. It’s time for us to embrace the new consciousness that is emerging at this time, where by busting open the hearts and minds of our people, we will propel ourselves forward into a new golden age of humanity that is imminently upon us.

We are those people.

So, if on one hand, you had an unpredictable path, that leads into a new dream, a new way of life for all of mankind and on the other hand, you had a predictable path that leads to the slow, inevitable decline of a civilization.

Which path would you choose?

Day 128 (positive project) Costa Rica Happiness

Here in Costa Rica, they don’t have a military. (I was going to stop writing there, as that’s really all the info you need, however…..) The United States has a military that costs $1.4 trillion a year. Costa Rica is one of the happiest nations on the planet. Speaking to a local, he says he is free, liberated, because of there being no army.
If every country needed no army we would surely be in heaven.

Day 125 (positive project) Amazing Trust

Yesterday we drove a quad to Nosara. Which in itself is a positive because what male wouldn’t enjoy driving a Quad bike over rough ground and through rivers? It’s just plain fun. But that aside, my point of focus of today’s (feb 17) post is trust.
Whilst looking through a store in Nosara, we became familiar with the store keeper and discovered that he made his own jewelry. He was very friendly and helpful. I decided to buy an item from him. He explained at the start that he would take a credit card but on time of payment the telephone line was down and he couldn’t take the money.
So we asked if he could save it and we would come to try again later. Now that part that surprised me and has made me stand back in awe was the fact that he refused to do this, telling us to keep the item and come back to pay tomorrow!
I tried to say no and to give it him back, but he wasn’t having it. He insisted we take it and return to pay another time.

This has taught me a huge deal about trust and I wish this trust was experienced everywhere around the world.

Day 124 (positive project) Making a Difference

I’m a couple of days out of sync here with my posts, due to lack of internet and commitment. I am still noticing many positive things throughout each day, it is impossible not to when you’re vacationing in Costa Rica.
So this particular post relates to February 16.
As time goes by more and more people begin to follow me on twitter, the one thing I notice is that in the main, all of these people have a similar thing in common; they all have a concern for the planet and the future of humanity. Each one of them that I find in my new followers list wants to make a difference.
It is amazing to see how many people there are that wish to make this commitment to change, and to our planet!

Day 123 (positive project) Are you Crazy Enough?

20120216-070943.jpg

Whilst in a tea house I noticed that the Steve Jobs Biography was sat on the book shelf. I had a spare ten minutes, so read the introduction. I turned to the quote above. I am very familiar with this and find it is very inspirational.

Don’t forget, people might think you’re slightly crazy by the things you do to change the world, but that’s ok, because you will. Stay strong, stay crazy!

Day 118 (positive project) In Sync with Nature

The other night I read an article explaining how science has a made a connection between healthy cells and harmonious surroundings. The connection is to say that when one is submerged in nature, such as walks in the forest, time on the beach, a swim in the ocean, or admiring a sunset; then ones cells are encouraged to grow and regenerate, therefore, healthy.
When one is not exposed to nature, your cells seize up and form a protective layer almost, which inhibits the cells growth and regeneration. Amazing!
Well, I completely experienced this today (yesterday as you read this). I was awoken by an encouraging voice at around 5.30am, “the sun’s about to rise, let’s go and watch it!”
As you can imagine, the article I mentioned above was not forefront in my mind an I’m sure if you’d have reminded me of it, I would’ve said, “ahh, what does science know!?”
I wanted more sleep. I did peek at the slight redish glow through the window and admittedly it was slightly eyelid-lifting. It still required a few more words to reluctantly raise my entire body from slumber, but I did it and grumbled down the stairs, camera in hand. It didn’t take me long to be completely awake and excited. As we are currently staying for two nights in a random shack on the beach (complete with bats, frogs and crabs) it made the sunrise even more special.
The day unfolded into a five kilometer bike ride, a ten kilometer walk and following a puncture and a slab of chocolate cake, I now retire with the sunset. I am left with the question, “Should I live by the Sun?”
I feel the world would benefit from this positive change of lifestyle and so dies the article I mention above.
I plan to rise once again with the sun tomorrow and maybe share its bedtime once again too.
